Herten: 8-year-old run over by a car – critically injured
In a serious traffic accident in Herten, a child was hit by a car and seriously injured. Doctors are fighting for the boy’s life.
An eight-year-old child from Herten was critically injured in an accident. A car hit the boy on Tuesday afternoon and seriously injured him. The boy wanted to cross a street with his scooter when a 55-year-old driver caught him and dragged him several meters, as Andreas Lesch, spokesman for the Recklinghausen police said to t-online.
The driver from Herten had previously turned from Feldstrasse onto Schlage-und-Eisen-Strasse. The boy was taken to a hospital by rescue helicopter along with his mother who had rushed to the scene. The driver also needs medical treatment. A team of emergency counselors looks after those involved. The police have launched an investigation into the cause of the accident. The intersection was closed for several hours.
